EPHA Recognized Individuals and Institutions for their Priceless Contribution to the Success of the 13th WCPH

At the recognition ceremony of the 13th World Congress on Public Health (WCPH) held on August 11, 2012 at the Sheraton Addis hotel, EPHA presented certificates of appreciation and trophies to individuals and institutions that considerably contributed and made the 13th congress a great success. 

Second Cohort EFELTP Students Graduated

A total of 22 students of the Ethiopian Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (EFELTP) were graduated and received their Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in field epidemiology from Addis Ababa University School of Public Health on Saturday July 7, 2012. 

This year, the program has graduated second cohort students who completed studying the two year long competency-based post-graduate training dedicated by going through a combination of 25% classroom learning and 75% on-the-job training and service.

A historical decision on NCD has been announced by the UN Conference on Sustainable Development held from 20 -22 June 2012 at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where governments from around the world gathered to discuss and concur on the topic “the future we want.”

Margaret Chan, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) described Rio+20 as a victory for health owing to the success of the long anticipated advocacy campaign in making health a part of the priority agenda for sustainable development.

Yale Honors Ethiopian Minister of Health at a Global Conference

11 June 2012 (Yale News) - Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Ethiopia’s minister of health, has been awarded the Stanley T. Woodward Lectureship at Yale University, given to distinguished international visitors to the University. Tedros was one of 23 senior health practitioners and researchers from South Africa, Liberia, Ethiopia, and Ghana who convened at Yale for the fourth annual Global Health Leadership Institute (GHLI) conference, June 4-8.
