EPHA Recognized Individuals and Institutions for their Priceless Contribution to the Success of the 13th WCPH


At the recognition ceremony of the 13th World Congress on Public Health (WCPH) held on August 11, 2012 at the Sheraton Addis hotel, EPHA presented certificates of appreciation and trophies to individuals and institutions that considerably contributed and made the 13th congress a great success. 
 
On the occasion of this recognition ceremony, sponsors, partners, moderators, abstract reviewers, EPHA and congress secretariat staff, subcommittee members, board members and others individuals who provided their technical support received the certificates of appreciation in recognition of their immense contribution to the congress  from his Excellency Dr Tedros Adhanom, Minister of the Federal Ministry of Health and patron of EPHA.

In her opening speech of the awarding ceremony, Dr Tewabech Bishaw, president of EPHA expressed her heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the Association to all individuals and organizations who showed their unreserved commitment in contributing professionally, technically, financially and materially in the planning, organization and conduct of the 13th WCPH, which ultimately made everyone involved proud of its success.

Dr Tewabech unveiled that the resounding success of the 13th World Congress came out loud and clear as a result of the synergy and collective efforts of various individuals and institutions in the public health sector and beyond and the close working relationship between EPHA and WFPHA along with the support and guidance by MoH and the government of Ethiopia. 

Recognition
In addressing those attending the festivity, Dr Tedros Adhanom, Minister of the FMoH expressed his pleasure for working with a great team who brought the 13th WCPH a success, showcasing the world that Ethiopia is on the fast move towards multi-sectoral development.  Adding on it, he also said that the 13th world congress was not only a success as an event but it was an occasion for reaffirming the commitment and responsibility to meet the millennium development goals as called for by the Addis Ababa Declaration to accelerate our push to achieve the MDGs and to play a leading role in the consolidation of the African Federation of Public Health Association which already stationed its headquarter in Addis Ababa.

The awarding ceremony was organized by EPHA jointly with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health.

The 13th World Congress was a large international event that brought together over 3700 public health professionals from around 141 countries in the capital Addis Ababa and deliberated on critical public health issues of global importance.
