Field Supervisor 

Project background:

The Ethiopian Public Health Association, in collaboration with US-CDC, Addis Ababa City Administration and Amhara Regional Health Bureaus is undertaking a survey entitled ‘Pediatric Effective Testing and Enrollment: HIV Prevalence in High-Risk Settings of Selected Health Facilities in Ethiopia’, in eight facilities selected from Amhara and Addis Ababa regions. Hence, EPHA is currently expecting applications from potential candidates for the following vacancy.

Position:  Field Supervisor

Job Responsibilities: The supervisor will be responsible for coordinating the activities of data collectors and will be tasked with the following responsibilities:

  • Serves as a liaison at the facility level and manage relationship with facility staff
  • Supervise and coordinate the data collection process at facility level
  • Closely follow and remind the data collectors to conduct phone interview of legal guardians as per the protocol and field manual
  • Ensure high quality data is collected by data collectors under his supervision
  • Collect the filled forms from the data collectors daily and check and recheck for completeness and consistency.
  • Make sure that the data collected through the ODK system are submitted regularly
  • Maintains regular communication with the field coordinator, facility head and staff
  • Keep all clients related information confidential and make inaccessible to unauthorized person
  • Review the data collection process daily with the team to identify and solve challenges
  • Other additional responsibilities as per immediate supervisor’s direction

Expected contract duration: 6 months with possibility of extension.

Duty station: Amhara region (Debrebirhan)

Reports to: Field Coordinator

Job Responsibilities:

An ideal candidate for this position should have the following skills and qualifications;

  • Must have first degree in nursing or public health with MPH  
  • Experience in supervising clinical data collection at least in two different public health researches
  • Two years of experience in pediatric HIV testing, counseling, care and treatment
  • Having Pediatric ART training certificate
  • Minimum four years clinical experience in a health center/hospital setting
  • Very good communication skills in English and Amharic
  • Good technical and behavioral performance in previous assignments
