CONGRATULATIONS!

The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) is extremely delighted to congratulate Dr. Wakgari Deressa Amente on his promotion to the Academic rank of Full Professor of Public Health by Addis Ababa University. Besides his academic accomplishments, he has made outstanding contributions to EPHA through his active engagement in different positions and capacities. Prof. Wakgari served as Executive Board member (2008-2013) and as vice president (2010-2013) of the Association.

He also served as member of the Award and Recognition Committee for two terms. Moreover, he served as member of the organizing committee of the 13th World Health Congress held in Addis Ababa in 2012. He was also one of the active members of the organizing committee for the establishment of the African Federation of Public Health Associations (AFPHA), which was established in 2011.

Prof. Wakgari has made significant contribution in health research methods and ethics trainings organized by EPHA in collaboration with MoH, Regional Health Bureaus and the then Ministry of Science and Technology. Prof. Wakgari received several certificates of recognitions and awards from EPHA, including the 2007 “Gold Medal of the Young Public Health Research Award”.

May this success he has achieved today be the beginning of more magnificent achievements in his career
