Counting the Dead, Making the Dead Count in Africa

November 29-30, 2022 in Freetown, Sierra Leone

Organised by COMSA (Countrywide Mortality Surveillance for Action) in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health and Sanitation and Njala University

The Symposium will feature keynote lectures, scientific and policy sessions, poster sessions, and networking opportunities.

Topics include but are not limited to:

  • national, subnational, and regional mortality in Africa

  • approaches and techniques to assess mortality

  • mortality by age group

  • mortality related to demographic or geographic characteristics

  • specific important causes (e.g., malaria, hepatitis)

  • epidemics and pandemics, including COVID-19

  • health policy, health systems, and mortality
