Organised by COMSA (Countrywide Mortality Surveillance for Action) in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health and Sanitation and Njala University

The Symposium will feature keynote lectures, scientific and policy sessions, poster sessions, and networking opportunities.

Topics include but are not limited to:

  • national, subnational, and regional mortality in Africa

  • approaches and techniques to assess mortality

  • mortality by age group

  • mortality related to demographic or geographic characteristics

  • specific important causes (e.g., malaria, hepatitis)

  • epidemics and pandemics, including COVID-19

  • health policy, health systems, and mortality

BRIEF MONTHLY NOTE ON THE STATUS AND TREND OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC MAY 2022

INTRODUCTION.

This brief is focused on selected major national events during the five Epi-weeks of JUNE 2022 (30 MAY -3 JULY 2022) that include trend in newly reported cases, deaths, laboratory tests performed, CFR and % Test Positivity Rate. All figures are based on official government data (EPHI daily tweet notification. The CFR and % Positive rates are computed from the reported figures. The findings from MAY are compared with the preceding month of that of APRIL.
