EPHA Conducts Health Research Methods and Ethics Training

The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) conducted Health Research Methods and Ethics Training from October 12-21, 2015 at Bahir Dar town.

Ato Semegnew Mengistu, Deputy Executive Director of EPHA, warmly welcomed the participants. The training was then officially opened by Ato Wondimu Gebeyehu, head of Regional Health Research and Laboratory at the Amhara Region Health Bureau, Bahir Dar.

In his keynote address, Ato Semegnew Mengistu stressed that EPHA, as part of its project activity, is committed to stimulate scientific research in the country. To this end, EPHA has contributed a lot in building capacities and competencies of its professional members. It has also actively participated in the development of curricula and guidelines for the entire nation.

EPHA Organizes Workshop to Train EPI Experts

The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) organized a workshop to train experts in Expanded Program on Immunization /EPI/ from Oct 14 to 16, 2015 in Addis Ababa.

The objective of the workshop was to familiarize selected EPI experts with the Integrated approach to Empower Health care facilities in the Immunization /IEHI/ project.

The workshop aims at strengthening the capacity of EPI experts in baseline assessment and continuous quality improvement techniques.

5th Cohort Field Epidemiology Trainees Graduated

The Ethiopian Field Epidemiology Training Program (EFETP), a partnership program, has graduated 15 health professionals who completed the long postgraduate courses along with field work activities on July 2015 at Addis Ababa University.

EPHA Conducts Planning Meeting

Staff members and partners of the Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) gathered at Aphrodite hotel on 22 May, 2015 to review and discuss the annual plan of the Association for the period spanning from April 1, 2015- March 31, 2016.

The meeting was opened by the welcoming speech of Ato Semegnew Mengistu, Deputy Executive Director of EPHA, who explained the objectives and importance of the planning meeting.

In his remarks, Ato Semegnew underlined the need to develop and implement a comprehensive, participatory and achievable plan, which would help to attain the vision and goals of EPHA.

 During the course of the day-long planning meeting, the various departments and units of the Association presented their annual plan for the stated period.

The annual plan was further enriched with follow up discussions and comments, which will be incorporated before the plan is finalized and put into practice.
